We ask that Moms (and Dads) in need Become a Member of Amy's Helping Closet, which allows for continued support, assistance and discounts when shopping at the thrift store, but it seems a little different from other places you've been to... so here are some questions (and answers) you might want to ask first. Why should I join?
As a member of Amy's Helping Closet, you will receive continued support from volunteers in the Big Sister Program, notifications of all events, discounts when shopping at the thrift store, as well as offers of freebies.
Do I have to join to get help?
By all means, NO! If you are in need of only one or two things, and just want a small helping hand with a few blankets or a stroller, please feel free to ask for it! I cannot guarantee anything, and certainly members will get what they need first, but I will turn NO ONE away! However, if you wish to receive continued assistance, you should join.
How do I join?
It's simple! A short form with basic information, which can be emailed or even filled out over the phone. While I would prefer to meet you in person, the file is available online and can be downloaded. I will ask to see an ID and some proof that you are in need, but no copies of any documents will be made or kept. We are not the government, and we don't need to verify that your neighbor's best friend's daughter's cousin's dog isn't helping you. :) Your individual situation will be taken into account on a case by case basis.

What if I choose not to join, but later change my mind?
You can join at any time! We are here to help, and don't want to turn anyone away.

What are the perks of joining?
Members will be added to the Support Page, will be assigned a Big Sister, receive discounts in the thrift store, will be invited to social events free of charge, and will be offered a choice of freebies from the freebin. Once we have a large enough group, there will be monthly socials, craft events, and other things (children always welcome!) meant to get our Moms together for fun and education - which members will never have to pay to attend. Members will be able to invite friends or family to come as guests for a small fee - this fee will help to defray the costs to Amy's Helping Closet of the event - but members will NEVER have to pay for these events!
